Purpose
This article describes how to set up VMware vSphere credentials.
Introduction
VMware vSphere Credentials enable secure authenticated scanning of VMware vSphere environments by configuring role-based credentials, including usernames and passwords, within the Portal’s Credentials management interface.
This feature allows security teams to perform comprehensive vulnerability assessments on virtualized infrastructure, ensuring accurate detection of security issues with appropriate access privileges.
By setting up VMware vSphere Credentials, organizations enhance their ability to monitor and secure virtual environments, supporting compliance with security standards and improving risk management through precise, authenticated scans tailored to VMware systems.
Adding Credentials

Log in to OUTSCAN. See the Logging in to the portal article on how to access the Portal.

In the Portal view, click the Account button in the upper right corner. Initials in the button may differ depending on the account name.

Select Credentials in the context menu.

Click the + Add credentials button to open the Add credentials form.
Set up VMware vSphere Credentials

In the drop-down menu select VMware vSphere.

Enter a Role.

Enter a Username.

Enter a Password.

Click blue Add button.
