Release Notes April 2025

Release Date: 2025-04-29

New Outscan Architecture Release

We are pleased to announce that we have released a new Outscan architecture, moving Outscan into a new containerized platform.

The migration represents a broader transformation in architecture, development processes, and operational workflows, and enables modular software deployment, improved automation, and allows for more efficient maintenance and scaling.

We have not only migrated our UIs and services but also our cloud-hosted scanners, known as attackers.

This upgrade is also the first step toward enabling other significant improvements in the future, including potential improvements such as regional attackers, allowing us to deploy infrastructure in specific geographic areas, improving performance, availability, and overall service quality for our customers worldwide.

By making these foundational improvements now, we have the laid groundwork for greater flexibility, faster innovation, and future enhancements that will better support ever evolving customer needs.

The Attackers ran the SLS scans have been moved as part of the migration, as a consequence of this, a new Vulnerability Scan will need to be run before an SLS update can occur.

Our Customer Support team will be in direct contact with those customers likely to be most affected by this.

Agent Download Changes

The agent download process has been moved from the Classic UI into the Portal UI for ALL customers, so Agents will need to be downloaded exclusively from the portal.

Custom Attributes Management with Agents (Classic UI Only)

When downloading Agents within Portal it is possible to now use the key:value as the custom attribute configuration when adding Custom Attributes to the Agent.

It possible to set and manage attribute values directly through Portal only if they have been previously set up the attributes in Classic UI

These changes streamline the agent management workflow while maintaining compatibility with existing custom attribute configurations.

To reiterate, a custom attributes in must first be configured Classic UI before being able to set values for these attributes in Portal.

New Features

Portal

  • Introduced built-in templates for email event notifications—ready to use as-is or easily tailored to match your preferences.

Solution and Delta Reporting Revamp

An example of the new Insights > Solutions' view

Based on extensive feedback, we have rebuilt the way we present Solution and Delta information in Portal to better reflect the way our customers are working with their Vulnerability Data. Some of the main changes are:

  • Solution and Delta reporting are now separated into its own Insights menu item.

  • It is now possible to drill down into the solution, from an initial high-level view to more detailed views.

  • Dynamic summaries at the top of the screen showing how many vulnerabilities are affected, how many assets are affected, and how those values have changed over the last 30 days.

  • At-A-Glance view of relevant findings that are either Watched, Fixed, Accepted, or marked as False Positives.

  • Support for Saved Views for consistent and repeatable filtering.

Populate Asset Groups based on Tags

It is now possible to create a new Dynamic Asset group which is populated based on Asset Tags.

When creating a new Asset Group, select the Dynamic Group option, Tags can then be used to manage the assets within the Dynamic Asset groups.

Existing Unmanaged Asset Groups cannot become Dynamic, nor Dynamic Groups become Unmanaged Asset groups

The option available to manage the Tags within a Dynamic Asset Group are:

Tagging options for the example Asset Group named Tagged Agents.

Included asset tags: Assets with this tag should be included.

Excluded asset tags: Assets with this tag should be excluded.

When nesting Dynamic Asset groups or due to Tag Inheritance, should there be a conflict of Tags, for example, the same Tag is used to Included and Excluded, then Exclude will always take precedence.

Tags: These are the Tags explicitly applied to this group if, for example, you wish to run a scan against this Asset group, then this is the Tag you would choose to scan against when creating the Configuration.

Changes to the Assets contained within a Dynamic Asset Group may not be reflected within the UI immediately as the changes are queued. This is ensure large scale changes do not have an negative impact on the speed of the user experience.

Bug Fixes and Minor Improvements

Portal

  • Improved the comment UX by adding helpful messaging to guide users when the submit button is disabled.

  • Updated comment notifications to ignore automatic comments, so users are only notified when someone manually adds a new comment.

  • Improved Asset Group management with better hierarchy display: shows root nodes by default, expands to reveal matching items when filtered, and lets users explore relevant branches without clutter.

  • Fixed an issue where emails with large PDF attachments weren’t being sent.

  • Resolved OAuth authorization issues with the ServiceNow webhook integration.

  • Reduced excessive webhooks from discovery scans by batching events.

  • Added missing scrollbar to Asset Groups and Assets filtering panels to ensure all content is accessible when viewing longer lists.

  • Fixed an issue where the scan occurrence was not correctly set after re-running and resetting an existing schedule.

  • Fixed validation for port range expressions in workflows—special characters are now accepted as expected.

  • Fixed the Show only active filter in the Managed Asset Groups pane to persist correctly after page refresh.

  • Fixed missing end times for scans terminated due to scan window limits; now all terminal states display when the scan ended. Status messages also clarify whether the scan was running or queued at termination.

  • Fixed an error in Notification Settings where disabling a configuration failed if it referenced a removed variable.

  • Resolved an issue where assets with a high number of Asset Identifiers failed to load, we can now display all identifiers without errors.
