Purpose
This article describes how to check if OUTSCAN has discovered the Agent.
Introduction
The Discovering the Agent in OUTSCAN process registers installed Outpost24 agents in the OUTSCAN platform and links them to targets for scanning and management. Administrators configure a Discovery Scan with the Agent Discovery option enabled and run it against the network where the agents operate. During the scan, OUTSCAN detects active agents and adds them to the platform. The discovered agents appear in the Agents view and associate with the corresponding targets. Once discovered, the platform manages the agents, applies scan schedules, and collects vulnerability assessment results.
Use Agent Discovery to integrate deployed agents into the vulnerability management workflow. Discovery ensures that the platform recognizes installed agents and associates them with the correct assets. This process maintains complete visibility of agent-based systems and prevents unmanaged installations. Centralized management of discovered agents supports consistent scanning, accurate reporting, and reliable vulnerability data across the monitored environment.
