Release Notes August 2025
Release Date: 2025-09-01
Starting with this release, the enable/disable setting for Release Notes notifications is managed exclusively in Portal. The control has been removed from the Classic UI and will no longer appear there. Each Release Notes email now includes a direct link to the relevant page in Portal where you can update your preference. This change applies only to Release Notes notifications.
New Features
Informational Findings in Portal
When running a Vulnerability Scan in Portal, not all findings indicate a vulnerability, but the data collected is still valuable for prioritizing risks and identifying high-risk assets.
Previously, in the Classic UI, these findings were grouped with vulnerabilities and marked as Information, often filtered out to focus on CVE-related risks.
With Portal, Informational elements are now a standalone, fully searchable category. This makes it easier to search, filter, and use this data to support risk analysis.
General Changes
Removed the Insights menu and merged the Solutions and Delta views into the Findings -> Vulnerabilities view. The different options as to how the vulnerabilities are displayed are now at the top of the page.

A new Informational option has now been added to the Findings menu.

The Informational view follows the same layout as the updated Vulnerabilities view with the options at the top of the screen.

The Vulnerability Database has been moved to a new Catalog view which also includes a new Product Catalog.

Ports View
The Ports view provides more details about the network Ports open on an asset. Among the data this can show are the service name associated with that Port, as well as its Protocol. Any banner information that could be gathered during the scan process is also shown.

Products View
The Products view lists out the software found on the asset during the scan, alongside the version numbers and which ports were used to discover the software. When the software is discovered during an authenticated scan, then the port will often be the one used for the authentication.

Services View
The Services view shows the services discovered running on an asset during an authenticated scan. This includes such information as Service Name, Service Type, and Configuration.

Certificates View
The Certificates view shows details of the certificates discovered during the scan, including the Issuer name, the port the certificate was found on and Subject CN. In addition, it will be able to show the certificate chain if available.

Product Catalog View
The new Products Catalog view shows the list of products detected and relevant End Of Life(EOL) dates for any versions which have reached their EOL. In addition, selecting any of the products opens a details card providing information regarding the products CPE.

Authentication Status
When running a scan with authentication, it is good to know not only if the last scan was successfull, but also what authentication method was used. Authentication status is shown in both the Asset and the Scans view.

Bulk Editing in Portal
Unlimited Table Selections
The 500-item limit has been removed, so it is now possible to select all items in a table and apply bulk actions with less effort. This eliminates the need for custom solutions when managing large datasets and provides clear progress visibility with instant feedback.
Updated Bulk Action Handling
For selections of two or more items, certain menu options will no longer appear conditionally to streamline performance. A new top panel displays pending bulk actions, allowing you to review, pause, or cancel them easily.

Improved Mechanisms for Asset Identifiers when scanning in Portal
During a scan, especially when using authentication or an Outpost24 Agent, there are a large number of Asset Identifiers that can potentially used in future scanning processes. However, in some cases not all of these Identifiers are needed, or desired, in the scan process, such as ISP provided reverse DNS entries.
Asset Details view

For each Asset Identifier, it is possible to select if this is included or excluded during a scan. The default is to use all Asset Identifiers during a scan, but specific ones can be excluded.
This view also shows which Scanner was allocated during the last scan.
Scan Configuration

It is now possible to have more control over how we interact with specific items during a scan. The defaults are configured for the best scanning experience, however these can be changed as necessary and each option contains a brief description of how the option changes the scanning process.

More control have also been added to the number of concurrent scans that can take place, both overall during the scan, or the number of concurrent scans on an asset where there may be multiple asset identifiers to be scanned.
It is also possible to override the scanner used during a scan by setting this in the Scan Configuration. This will override the setting for individual assets.
2FA improvements in Portal
Following customer feedback, the configuration have been improved when configuring 2FA for new users.
When creating a new user, it is now possible to set 2FA at the time of user creation. either using SMS or TOTP (Supported by most common authenticators, including Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Yubico Authenticator etc).

When a user with TOTP logs in for the first time, or after having it reset by an administrator, they are now prompted to configure their Authenticator app at next login.

Bug Fixes and Minor Improvements
Portal
Added the ability to filter on multiple status and source filters simultaneously in the scans view.
Fixed an issue where the Mark as false positive option remained enabled after a finding was already marked as a false positive.
Fixed an issue where navigating back to Portal after saving preferences resulted in a 404 error.
Fixed an issue where sub-users with view access to IAM could see the 2FA secret; the secret is now hidden once saved and can only be reset if needed.
Fixed an issue where users logging in with SSO to an account with MFA enabled were not prompted for MFA credentials.
Fixed an issue where the timeline from a previous Scale scan was incorrectly displayed when switching back to an ongoing scan.
Updated user preferences to allow selecting Asset Groups as the default landing page on HIAB.
Made Actions the default first column in Managed Reports.
Continued improvements to platform performance to enhance speed and stability across the platform.
Added a new header component above the tab bar in table details sections to provide quicker access to key information and actions.
