Setting up a HIAB as an Appsec Scale Scanner

Purpose

This document describes how to set up a HIAB as an Appsec Scale Scanner.

Introduction

In Outpost24, AppSec Scale scans cannot run on scheduler appliances alone, so one of your HIAB nodes must be designated as a dedicated scanner. The article describes how to convert a standard HIAB scanner into an AppSec Scale Scanner via the Distribution settings in the portal. This role enables that appliance to execute web application security scans in the AppSec Scale architecture, supporting scalable and distributed assessments.

To Set Up a HIAB as an Appsec Scale Scanner

Requirement

The internal Appsec Scale setup requires at least two appliances, one scheduler and one Appsec Scale scanner.

Set Up

To add scans in HIAB Appsec Scale, one of the Normal HIAB scanners must be turned to Appsec Scale scanner.

1. Go to Main Menu > Settings > Distribution.

2. Right click the scanner you want to turn into an Appsec Scale scanner and select Set as Appsec Scale Scanner in the menu.
