New Features

Portal

Report Library renamed to ‘Reports’

We have renamed the Report Library menu in Outscan to simply ‘Reports’. This better reflect the fact that it can be used to upload reports directly from the Workflows and when creating ad hoc reports.

This is purely a name change, and no other functionality within the Reports menu has changed. The API has also been updated to reflect this change.

Engagement requests

Engagement requests are now available to all SWAT, Snapshot, and Assure customers, allowing them to call off their available licenses directly from Portal

RC-Scanners

We are pleased to announce that our new RC-Scanners have now reached Public Preview.

If you are using the HIAB scanner, having all of your findings reported back to Outscan, and are using Portal, then the new RC-Scanners are the new platform for running internal scans.

The new RC-Scanners run on a modern containerised platform, designed from the ground up to operate as dedicated scanners. They offer full OS access for both troubleshooting and monitoring.

The deployment process has also been significantly simplified through the use of a unique registration key linked to your Outscan account.

The new RC-Scanners are available to any user managing vulnerability scanning through the Outscan Portal UI. If you are interested in using the new RC-Scanners, please contact our Support team.


Bug Fixes and Minor Improvements

Portal

  • The ‘Check Created’ field has now been added to the Detailed view in Findings / Vulnerabilities, in line with the data available in the Catalog.

  • Improved the naming convention for ‘Managed Asset Group Type’ when used for Offsec engagements to better convey the engagement type.

  • Fixed an issue where only the first comment was shown when exporting a detailed report.

  • Introduced several performance improvements when loading and searching Asset Groups.

  • Fixed an issue where, under specific circumstances, it was possible to raise a Clarification request for a finding which would not normally be eligible.

  • Improved the layout of the Credential tab in Asset Groups view.

  • Improved sorting of Asset Groups in the Asset Groups tree view.

End of Life Announcement

Authenticated scanning – commands over SMB

In June 2023, we began introducing WinRM as an alternative to running commands on Windows targets during authenticated scans. We are now announcing that we will stop using the old mechanism.

This means that WinRM will become a required configuration for authenticated scanning of Windows hosts going forward, and any existing configurations that have not been adapted to WinRM will no longer work.

For now, the scanner will continue connecting to the Windows registry over SMB even when configured with WinRM credentials.
